Polk County Schools is an award winning public school system in Western North Carolina serving approximately 2,200 students in grades prekindergarten through 13. Our seven schools include one early college, one high school, one middle school and four elementary schools, all located in a small, rural county in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Polk County students are recognized locally and at the state and national level for their high academic performance on both State and National Assessments. Polk County Schools was recognized and highest performing school system in North Carolina for our students academic performance during the 2017-2018 school year.
Polk County believes in giving our teachers the time and materials necessary to help each student succeed. Because of the strong support or our parents, community members and local commissioners, our teachers can focus on the needs of their students.
